Answer 11 of 20: Hello, I hope someone can clarify a very confusing issue for me. I have read that euros, lira and £s are used as currency in Turkey. Which one do I take away with me?
There are a collection of ATMs at arrivals at Antalya airport in case you want cash to tip your driver, bellboy etc. before getting to an ATM near the hotel. Changing Sterling to Lira in the UK is about the worst thing you could possibly do. The rates/charges compared to a fee-free card are almost as bad as income tax!

In tourist areas the goods in shops are actually priced initially in Euro and the then the shop owner converts to the currency of your choice at the rate for the day. You realize that this is the case when goods cost the same whether the exchange rate is 3 or 5 Lira to the pound.
Save. There are 24-hour exchange bureaux (döviz bürosu) in the arrivals hall at Antalya International Airport that offer rates comparable to those offered by bureaux in the city. Count the money you’re given carefully and save your currency-exchange receipts (bordro), as you may need them to reconvert Turkish liras at the end of your stay.

It is best to have a FX fee-free card such as Revolut, Currensea or Hailifax Clarity and withdraw as much as you need for the entire holiday in one go from an ATM on arrival - Antalya airport or near the hotel. Second best is use whatever card you have already at an ATM, at a cost of around 3%.
